The newest MacBook dropped recently, and if the reviews are to be trusted, it’s “Apple’s best laptop in at least half a decade.” But if you’re one of the lucky folks who snagged one of the newest MacBooks for yourself or a loved one, you probably already know that. Last year Apple shipped a whopping 17.7 million Macs, and with these newest Macs, sales this year could be even greater.
Every new laptop is a chance to restart and select what takes up space on your hard drive. Hated Google Chrome hogging up your RAM? Use Safari. Feeling eye strain? Maybe it’s time to download F.lux software to reduce blue light. After all, there’s no point in paying $1,000 for a 2020 MacBook if the tools you’re using make it no better than your last model. This is especially true now, as people find themselves spending increasingly more time on their devices than ever before.
In fact, according to a study from July, about 55% of people admit to spending more time in front of a computer screen than before the pandemic. With increased time spent in front of your screen, you shouldn’t be settling for any applications that are second best, particularly for the tools you use the most like email.
Now when it comes to desktop email, the big question that many people face is deciding between webmail or a desktop email app. While webmail has become more popular in recent years with email services like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail, desktop apps offer benefits that webmail lacks. For one, desktop apps are useful for easily backing up your email messages for future reference. Email clients also make it easier to switch between and manage multiple email accounts, regardless of the email service provider used. With the average consumer handling 2.5 email addresses (and the non-average consumer handling many more), being able to juggle multiple email accounts is crucial.
Among email clients out there, Edison Mail for Mac is set apart in the way it delivers blissful efficiency. This guide will explain how you can use the app to enhance your email experience on your brand new Macbook.
What You Get: Simple & Intuitive Email for Mac
First, a little about the app. Launched in the App Store earlier this year (May 2020), the Edison Mail Mac App is already one of the top 150 free apps, listed 45th in the Mac App Store’s Productivity category and rated 4.4 stars.
Edison Mail for Mac was engineered for heavy use, with your needs in mind every step of the way. Available for Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo!, Exchange accounts, and more, this universal inbox offers everything you need and nothing you don’t. Have an Outlook account for work and a Gmail account for personal use? No problem. Don’t worry about switching between two different mailbox applications, get the best of both worlds by managing all your accounts in one place.
The app was built around two core tenets: speed and simplicity. It is an email app for Mac that helps you zip through a crowded inbox effortlessly while not being overwhelmed by too much on the screen. We’ve created several sets of email keyboard shortcuts for you to choose from — for example, you can pick your preference among existing sets of shortcuts offered by Edison, Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook, and more. You’re given the option to customize your swipe actions to let you manage your inbox, your way. Furthermore, we constantly test and fine-tune the app so it integrates seamlessly with your daily tasks.
Edison Mail for Mac offers smart, privacy focused features that don’t interrupt your workflow. Block Sender is a feature in the app that allows you to immediately banish unwanted senders to your Trash. Our dead simple Unsubscribe feature helps you clear your inboxes (goodbye marketing spam) with a single tap, and read receipts are always blocked (without disabling images) so you never have to worry about tracking pixels invading your inbox.
If you’re clocking long hours in your Mac inbox, you’ll appreciate Edison Mail features like Dark Mode to protect your eyes from undue strain, Focused Inbox to zero in on messages that matter most, and the ability to Mute Notifications from the email accounts and senders you don’t care too much about.
Edison Mail’s flagship assistant menu options fluidly manage your travel, bills and receipts, and entertainment so you never need to go searching for details you need. You also don’t want to miss leveraging a very handy Templates feature that saves you from retyping the same message over and over (great for those routine work email updates).
Those who use their MacBooks for work have lauded Edison Mail’s easy organization, smooth UI, speed, and the seamless experience offered between Mac and iOS applications. At its core, this app was expertly designed to be the least stressful part of your work day.
The design decisions we made with Edison Mail for Mac were inspired by thousands of hours of research. We collected detailed input from our email users around the globe to create a cleaner version of a tool we’ve all relied on for decades. Pixels were moved and removed in countless team discussions until everything felt just right.
The result: a simple, clean, and intuitive email app tailored to perfectly complement your Mac.
