As of late 2018, there are over 100 million Mac users in the world. We knew that by developing a Mac app, we could help many of these users with their email woes.
The average consumer handles 2.5 email addresses, and the average office worker receives 121 emails a day — that’s a lot of emails to get through in a single day and with the wrong application, consumers can end up wasting too much of their day. This is why we are proud to bring Edison Mail to Mac for the first time. Our new app allows you to manage unlimited email accounts all in one place, offers a unified or separated view of your inbox, and is chock full of shortcuts to help you speed through all the mail in your mailbox.
Our team has been hard at work creating this application for well over a year. And now, after over half a year of rigorous QA testing by our internal team and a group of external beta testers, we’re ready to send out VIP invites to consumers who want early access.
Edison Mail for Mac was created to be fast, and free of any of the clunkiness or frictions you experience in many other desktop email clients. The UI/UX is deliberately minimal, so you’re not overloaded with the stress of too much on the screen. The entire experience was tailored for simplicity and ease of use, so whether you’re clearing out your inbox of junk mail or just trying to get through the work day, you can do it all in a way that’s convenient for you. Edison Mail for Mac was designed from the ground up for today’s busy consumer to take back control over an unruly inbox.
Everything we do at Edison puts security and privacy first, always. Edison Mail for Mac offers several of the celebrated features that people have come to rely on in our mobile app for iOS and Android. For example, our dead simple Unsubscribe allows you to break up with email subscriptions you don’t want in just one click and read receipts are automatically blocked (without disabling images), so you never have to worry about tracking pixels invading your inbox. Block Sender is also included in the Mac app so that you can banish unwanted individuals from your inbox for good.
Edison Mail for Mac comes equipped with Quick Actions and Swipe Gestures so you can quickly zip through all your mail in a way that makes sense to you. Dark Mode offers a softer experience for your eyes after long hours to prevent potential eye strain that power users may experience from excessive email use. Our flagship Assistant menu you love sits on the lower half of the app — automatically displaying your relevant emails by travel, packages, bills & receipts, and entertainment so you never have to go searching through your mailbox to find these details.
Edison Mail for Mac also includes a few brand new features desktop users will appreciate. Email Threading (even for the non-Gmail accounts that normally don’t support it) will help you to better see the flow of an email conversation, and Email Templates offers a time saving simplification of managing email content you send repeatedly. For the nimble desktop users who prefer emailing without touching their mouse or trackpad, we’ve included several keyboard shortcuts to choose from to find what’s just right for you — whether you want to use our default Edison Mail keyboard shortcuts, those standard for other mail apps, or even design your own. All of these features are easily discoverable and customizable in the Settings Menu of the app — which we have also made searchable to find anything you need faster.
Edison Mail for Mac will be updated further in 2020, and future iterations of the app are slated to include updates like support for Exchange accounts. A new Edison Mail for Windows app will be released next year as well.

If you already use Edison Mail for iOS, you should have received an alert with instructions for access to Edison Mail for Mac. If you don’t have the Edison Mail mobile app, you can sign up for the Mac app. Invitations to access the app will be rolling out through December and beyond.
